Tony Azzaro - The Performing Arts Educator

 

Tony is multi-dimensional both as an entertainer & educator, excelling in performance, teaching & as an artistic director. Having experience in all avenues of the entertainment industry allows Tony to bring a unique eye to mentoring students, working with other professionals, or advising on projects. Tony has experience in TV/Film, theatre, music, brand storytelling and media production. He is an award-winning competition choreographer, and has had the opportunity to set works for film, stage and arenas. He was even a featured educator for the 50th anniversary of the National Endowment of the Arts.

The Teacher

 

Tony has been a sought after dance teacher in the Philadelphia region for over a decade. He has taught all styles of hip-hop including: popping, locking, house, bboying ("breaking"), krump, social dances and more. He has experience teaching students of all ages & skill levels. Whether a young beginner, or a growing professional, Tony hopes to instill an understanding of the movement into each of his students, so they may go on to discover themselves as their own dancer; not to be a carbon copy of Tony. Aside from hip-hop, Tony has experience in other dance styles & musical theatre.

Tony is also a regular guest lecturer at both Lehigh University & Muhlenberg College, along with giving special lectures at other universities.

Tony is a proud member of the Bronx Boys Rocking Crew, an organization that focuses on hip-hop education & cultural preservation. Tony also sits on the board of non-profit dance company, Project Moshen (Philadelphia, PA), and is a member of UNESCO’s International Dance Council.

The Performer

 

Tony Azzaro is a professional dancer, actor & choreographer. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the dance & entertainment world including Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, High School Musical & Descendants), Luis Salgado (On Your Feet) and Jason Segal (How I Met Your Mother & Dispatches from Elsewhere). Some credits include: AMC, Aerosmith, CBS, Telemundo, ABC, Discovery, Comedy Central, various commercial work and more.

The Director

 

Tony is the owner & director of Impact Dance Complex, located outside of Philadelphia in Doylestown, PA. The studio looks to empower youth & adults through the performing arts.

 

Tony has overseen the creation of programming at Impact, and strives to ensure that it is a pillar of education & charity in the Doylestown community.

​

He is also the Director of Drama & Theatre for Pennridge North Middle School in Bucks County, PA. A graduate of Temple University, in Philadelphia, he has also recently completed a certificate from NYU Tisch School of the Arts for Performing Arts Administration & Education.
